The Baylands

Spanning the San Francisco - Brisbane border, The Baylands is a 680-acre transit oriented, urban mixed- use community of approximately 4,000 rental apartments and for sale townhomes, 6.5 million SF of Tech and Bio Tech office space, and 500,000 SF of hotels as well as over 200 acres of parks and open space. The site is one of the largest brownfield redevelopment projects in the western United States.

UPC is leading the effort to transform this one square mile site of former railyard and sanitary landfill property into an environmentally sustainable, economically successful and social vibrant addition to the San Francisco-Brisbane community.

At least 15% of the residential units will be affordable to lower income households. The Baylands has immediate access to existing public transportation systems including the existing Bayshore/ Cal Train Station connecting San Francisco with the Silicon Valley and San Jose. Additionally, The Baylands is adjacent to the San Francisco Muni Metro Third Street Line connecting the site to SF’s Mission Bay and the San Francisco Financial District. Environmental and social sustainability will be the hallmark of the new Baylands community.

Historically, the site was the location of the original Schlage Lock Company (circa 1926) and the Southern Pacific Railroad Yard. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2020.
